Bosveld Mixture

Components:
White buffalo grass (Panicum maximum)
Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana)
Smutsvinger grass (Digitaria eriantha)
Small buffalo grass (Panicum coloratum)
Bottle brush grass (Anthephora pubescens)
Blue buffalo grass (Cenchrus ciliaris)
Krul grass (Schmidtia pappophoroides)
Habitat
Areas with an annual rainfall of ±400mm.
Benefits of mixture
All of the species in the mixture are perennial sweet grasses that are highly palatable and digestible. It can be utilised as hay and standing hay.
The species complement each other well, as both Rhodes and Bottle brush grass establish relatively quickly from planting and suppress weed emergence.
Blue buffalo and Bottle brush grass are exceptionally hardy grass species that grow very well in areas with an annual rainfall of as little as 350mm in the summer rainfall regions.
Dry matter production can be as high as 18-20 tons/ha under irrigation, subject to correct management practices.
Management is based on normal Smutsfinger management practices.

Waterberg Mixture

Components:
White buffalo grass (Panicum maximum)
Smutsfinger grass (Digitaria eriantha)
Rhodesgrass (Chloris Gayana)
Habitat
Areas with an annual rainfall of ±500mm.
Benefits of mixture
Adapted to most soil types.
Can produce as much as 10-20 tons/ha dry matter under favourable conditions.
Best suited for cattle and game gazing.
The mixture produces best in areas with little frost.
Sowing Density
Rows: 8-10kg/ha; Broadcast: 15-18kg/ha

Kalahari Mixture
